While I've always loved drawing as a child, amidst the burnout of art school, I found that calligraphy was the one creative outlet that always kept me calm and grounded. For a really long time, I didn't want to start a calligraphy business out of fear of losing my love for it, like what had slowly happened with drawing and painting.

Over time, small projects for the occasional client and teaching calligraphy workshops taught me that no matter who I was writing pretty words for, I was always having a good time.

I am an artist in the Bay Area, specializing in Calligraphy and Illustrations.

I studied Animation/Illustration thinking I would be working for one of my dream studios by now. However, the industry is so competitive and unpredictable. It took a while, but while I applaud all my friends who continue to fight for their dreams of being in that industry, I have decided to throw in the towel and accept that I am too soft for that world.

And now here we are!

So I finally started Flourished by Franceen.

But why stop at flourishing letters?

As the burnout subsided and the impostor syndrome faded, I remembered that, just because my art was not good enough for the big studios, it didn't mean that people wouldn't still love my drawings.

So now here we are, flourishing not only letters, but all your luxury events with personalized art. Whether it be weddings or brand activations, I can always add a touch of flourish through calligraphy and illustrations for you and your guests.

And the little girl who loved to draw would be happy to learn that even though we aren't an artist at Pixar or working as a fashion designer, we still grew up doing what we love most.
